The heritage railway
From the outside, the organisation of our heritage railway is not easy to see through. On the one hand it has grown over time; on the other, this kind of separation of powers opens up entirely new possibilities.
Here is a short introduction to everyone involved:
- Stiftung Museumsbahn SEHR&RS – the foundation that owns the Etzwilen – Rielasingen line, except for the Hemishofen bridge
- Gemeinnütziger Förderverein Museumsbahn Singen–Rielasingen – the non-profit supporters’ association in Germany
- Stiftung Eisenbahnbrücke Hemishofen – the foundation that owns the Rhine bridge near Hemishofen
- Verein zur Erhaltung der Bahnlinie Etzwilen – Singen (VES) – initiator of the heritage railway project and supporters’ association of the SEHR&RS foundation, whose board it sits on.
- Verein Eisenbahnfreunde Hegau (EfH) – the German partner association of the SEHR&RS foundation and of the VES.
Why split it up like this?
Compared with one large association, separate bodies have the advantage that responsibility for each task is clearly defined, and a stumble by one partner has only a small effect on the project as a whole.
